Following in the similarly impressive footsteps of his recent 'Nitro' EP on Blackout Music, CURRENT VALUE hits the mark again with 6 tracks of perfectly balanced and heavy-hitting Neurotech. Typically stripped down and focussed on the quality of each sound rather than an over-abundance of layers, each track represents a masterclass in precision and power.
The titular track, ‘Force Black’ is all ominous growling synth work, perfect for grinding dawn ravers to a mushy pulp. ‘Agenda’ carries with it the kind of pressurised drop witnessed in his track ‘Phaselock’ for Critical Music, with super-powerful sub cone movement, and restrained percussion that occasionally finds release in a brief flurry of dense amen breaks, as well as the inclusion of a heavy half-step beatdown section. ‘Ngine’ provides some high-octane energy, backed with typically Sci-Fi pads and a steppy attitude that’s bound to supercharge the dance. ‘Number Crunching’ pushes the EP back into the spectrum of density, with CV’s bass weight in full force punctuated by a minimal staccato Techno-esque synth. ‘Happy Mode’ provides a dose of uplifting CV, with it’s bright trancey synths underpinned by a future baseline with some serious chug to it. ‘Gyrocopter’s synth line tugs at its own corners, providing a tastily balance-shifting and unusual roller - one of our favourites on the EP!
With collaborations rumoured with Phace amongst others, and the Current Value studio working at full capacity.. this totemic EP represents another step along a blazing path of incredible releases.
